Here is rough guide to what you can expect to get for your money. Although it does vary from area to area, this should give some sense of what represents good value for a range of budgets....

Senior Psychotherapists and Counsellors who have undertaken intensive/assessed specialist trainings in addition to their core training

BABCP accredited CBT therapists

Therapists that have trained to Doctoral level e.g. Doctor of Clinical Psychology, Doctor of Counselling Psychology

Extensive experience across a range of settings including: NHS, voluntary and private practice

Extensive experience as a supervisor of other therapists

Management experience within a counselling or psychotherapy service

£100-£150

Typically therapists that have trained to doctoral level e.g. Doctor of Clinical Psychology, Doctor of Counselling Psychology or Doctor of Psychotherapy

Therapists with extensive training and experience across a range of approaches

Highly specialist training to supervisor and trainer level

Published researchers who have made a significant contribution to the development of therapies

Experience across a range of settings including: NHS, voluntary and private practice

Extensive experience as supervisor of other senior therapists

Clinical Leader of a specialist NHS service (or similar). For example, a Consultant Clinical or Counselling Psychologist or Consultant Psychotherapist

Considered to be an authority for a particular type of issue in a particular area e.g. Eating Disorder expert in Hampshire
